Last Friday evening, hundreds of spirit lovers turned out for the annual visit of WhiskyFest at Chicago's Hyatt Regency Hotel.
This year's Fest was completely sold-out months in advance and with good reason! WhiskyFest's annual trek to Chicago is one of the best spirit expositions this side of Tales of the Cocktail!
Our colleague and sometimes roving reporter, Jetta Bates of Jettasetting.com , shared her observations of the event with us below:
"Now, not only are men well represented at WhiskyFest, but women are too. The women attending were tasting, comparing, and, discussing the various offerings right along with the men. Women were also representing brands (think, Hollis Bulleit of Bulleit Bourbon) and have become major players in recent years."
"Local and regional craft distillers including Koval, Few Spirits, and Templeton Rye were representing along with the best nationally known brands."
In between sampling and seminars, (including the opportunity to taste not yet available releases) guests were encouraged to enjoy the full buffet offered throughout the evening.
The 7th Annual WhiskyFest continues in San Francisco on September 27th and wraps up in New York City on October 11th & 12th.
