In celebration of the Kentucky Derby, Chicago q is going back to its Southern roots and hosting Derby q, a Chicago q-style Derby viewing party. On May 4, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., guests can cheer on their favorite horse while watching on a large projector screen in Chicago q’s main dining room.
This ticket includes a large southern style, all-you-can-eat buffet and a drink on Chicago q. A portion of the ticket price will be donated to Ronald McDonald House Charities® of Chicagoland & Northwest Indiana (RMHC).
The all-you-can-eat buffet is prepared by Chicago q Chef/Partner Lee Ann Whippen and includes Chicago q signature items as well as Kentucky Derby themed dishes such as Bacon Cheddar Hushpuppies, Pulled Pork Sliders, a flight of Deviled Eggs, Hot Brown Sandwiches. Ham and and Biscuits, Southern-style Roasted Corn Pudding, Kentucky Derby Pie and Bread Pudding with a q Bourbon caramel glaze.
Following the first drink on Chicago q, a cash bar featuring Chicago’s entire bar menu as well as Kentucky Derby themed specials including a Buffalo Trace Bourbon Mint Julep, $7, will be available. Beverage Director Lee Lampert has crafted a specialty drink, The Derby, from which a portion of the proceeds will be donated to RMHC. This drink features Buffalo Trace Bourbon, Sweet Vermouth, Triple Sec and Lime Juice shaken and poured over ice.
In addition, throughout the day, there will be a variety of ways to bring home prizes. Guests will be able to place bets on the Derby Horses. Each bet will cost $5 and 3 bets will cost $10. All guests who select the winning horse will win a bounceback to Chicago q and one lucky winner will be selected to receive a $100 gift card and a gift basket of Chicago q’s house-made sauces, rubs and pickles. 100% of the proceeds raised from this will be donated RMHC. There were also be a Derby Hat Contest, where the best hat of the day will be voted on via Facebook, and the winner will receive a $100 Gift Card and a Gift Basket of Chicago q’s house-made sauces, rubs and pickles.
