May 6th - The Great Migration: Conversation with Timuel D. Black, Jr., Linda Johnson Rice and Adam Green
Tonight at Harold Washington Library Center (6 p.m.) One Book, One Chicago invites you to
join Chicago historian and recent Champion of Freedom Award recipient Timuel Black (a
foremost authority on the Great Migration, about which he’s written extensively), and Linda
Johnson Rice (who was raised by parents who came to Chicago from the South and built one
of the largest and most successful black-owned media companies in the world, Johnson
Publishing Company) Joining them is historian Adam Green for a lively discussion across
generations of how the Great Migration shaped the city and their lives. Presented in
partnership with the Chicago Urban League.

Wine of Portugal invites you to a grand tasting (from 5:30 - 8:00 p.m. at Bin 36) showcasing the range of Portugal's wines, from the dry reds of Bairrada to the delicious whites from Vinho Verde, and from the newly-renamed Tejo and Lisbon regions to the progressive offerings from the Douro.
More than 25 wineries will be presenting their latest vintages at this event in Chicago. The grand tasting will also feature two theme tables: Cool and Exciting Whites table and Portuguese Red Gems table.
International appetizers will be served, showcasing an assortment of Portuguese dishes. Don't miss the 100+ Portuguese wines you will get to taste at the tasting!
