February 27 - The River North Business Association holds its annual meeting Wednesday, February 27 at Rockit Bar & Grill, 22 W. Hubbard Ave. The meeting includes the election of new board directors as well as the announcement of RNBA's River North's Best annual award winners. The program begins with registration at 5:30 p.m. and concludes with a celebration reception beginning at 7:15 p.m.
Guests are invited to enjoy Rockit Bar & Grill's hospitality and a motivational presentation by RNBA member Jonny Imerman of Imerman's Angels. March 2 - Meet Derek Haas, co-creator of the hit NBC series, Chicago Fire, at After-Words bookstore tonight at 6 p.m. Haas will be signing copies of his new book, "The Right Hand." After-Words is located at 23 East Illinois Street in Chicago.
March 3 - Join the DuSable Museum for DuSable Day, honoring the memory and legacy of the “Father of Chicago,” Jean Baptiste Pointe DuSable, Chicago’s first settler, and marking our city’s 176th birthday!
This day-long celebration features, multi-cultural dance performances, musical tributes, art workshops and premiere of the new Discovering DuSable Digitally website.
Another highlight of this family day is touring the DuSable Mobile Museum! The “museum on wheels” boasts an inter-active exhibition that explores the life and times of Jean Baptiste Pointe DuSable, an African Haitian, who in 1779 became the first non-native person to establish permanent settlement in Eschikagou (“the place of smelly onions”), which we now call Chicago.
