Fashion Forward Fridays: Highlights From Fashion Focus Chicago & Motions' Curly Nikki Meet-Up In Chicago!

J. Cheikh

Last week, Chicago's fashion scene exploded with designer showcases, runway shows, special shopping events and an industry day sponsored by the City of Chicago.

One of the best runway shows was the "Mario Tricoci & vitaminwater Present Fashion Takes Flight" event held at the Chase Pavilion at Millennium Park. The event was a fashion extravaganza featuring some of Chicago's top designers including, J. Cheikh, Azza, and C. Dahlstedt.

The highlight of the evening, however, was the "crowning" of the new Mario, Make Me A Model contest winner.  This year's honor went to Chicago resident, Caroline Mazurek.

Another highlight of Fashion Focus Chicago week was getting the opportunity to meet new designers and view their work.  Jenna Zielbauer, creator of Cotton Candy Couture, hosted a 2-day trunk show at theWit Hotel in Chicago's River North area.

Cotton Candy Couture launched in April 2011 with its fall collection and is available at boutiques in California, Texas, and Georgia and it is also available online.  Prices range on average from $250-$300 and offers a one-of-a-kind experience for each piece.

Jenna says, "Remember that feeling of pure ecstasy you had as a child when you wrapped your hands around a stick of cotton candy and took that first fuzzy, sweet bite? We aim to bring that same joy to your life when wearing Cotton Candy Couture."

Also happening the same weekend, Motions Hair Care brought popular blogger, Nikki Walton (Curly Nikki) to town along with their global ambassador, Ursula Stephen, for a meet-up with hair enthusiasts.

The jam-packed event was held at Japonais restaurant and opened with a hair presentation by celebrity hairstylist, Ursula Stephen. Stephen, who became interested in hair care and beauty as a teenager, has styled such artists as Rihanna, Jordin Sparks, Kerry Washington, and Michelle Williams of Destiny's Child fame.

Guests were also treated to specialty cocktails including the Motions Margarita, sushi, and sliders while they awaited the woman of the hour, Nikki Walton.

Walton encouraged the audience to talk with her one-on-one about hair care issues and to get to know other women at the event to share information.
